In the next Inspiring Experiences Webinar, on 17th December 2024, at 2pm CET, we will hear from Dr. Roland A. Stürz, Head of Think Thank at the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt), regarding a pioneering initiative to map digital skills and behaviors across Europe through its “Digitalbarometer.” Leveraging the DigCompSAT self-reflection tool, based on the widely recognized European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp), the institute collects representative survey data on digital skills. The Digitalbarometer also explores topics like digital usage behavior, e-government, the digital transformation of workplaces, and artificial intelligence.
In a first survey wave (08/2021 – 09/2021) data was collected in Germany. In later survey waves (11/2022 – 01/2023) comparative data was collected in Austria, France, Finland, Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain. In all survey waves a mixed sampling strategy with online and telephone interviews was chosen in order to allow for representative analyses including also persons with no access to the internet. The study aimed to compare the current status of digital transformation in Germany with other countries, to identify differences and similarities in the selected countries, and to better understand the developments and challenges of the digital transformation especially with regard to the digital skills gap. Currently the bidt works on a new survey wave to be carried out in Germany at the beginning of 2025.
In the webinar, Roland A. Stürz, Head of Think Tank at the bidt, will illustrate:
- How the DigCompSAT was implemented in the Digitalbarometer survey and what other topics were covered in the survey
- The main findings of the country comparison with regard to digital skills
- The developments underway (new topics, improved questions) of the next survey wave to be carried out in Germany in 2025
The presentation will be followed as usual by a Q&A session with participants
