As part of a digital transformation initiative within a Swiss Federal Government Department, a critical need emerged to evaluate the digital readiness of its workforce. This assessment was identified as a foundation for implementing targeted education and training programs aimed at enhancing digital competence and facilitating organizational transformation.
To meet this need, Collaboration Design GmbH and Prime Competence GmbH established a joint venture to develop the Digital Competency Check (DCC), based on the micro-learning and gamification app Qfive, created by Prime Competence.
The DCC provides an objective assessment of digital skills in a professional setting, aligned with the DigComp 2.2 framework. Unlike traditional self-assessments, the DCC employs knowledge-based questions and scenario-driven tasks to deliver a nuanced and accurate evaluation of participants’ skills. Leveraging the gamified Qfive platform, participants complete the assessment flexibly, promoting engagement and motivation. The aggregated results are mapped to job-specific skill requirements, enabling data-driven, personalized training interventions.
The DCC incorporates all five competence areas and 21 competences outlined in DigComp 2.2. Results are categorized into three proficiency levels—basic, intermediate, and advanced—using AI-generated questions and reporting tools to ensure reliability and scalability.
During this webinar, taking place on 26th February 2025 14:00 – 15:00, Jürg Hofer and Daniel Stoller-Schai, partners in the DCC initiative will explore the design, application, and implications of the DCC tool, offering insights into how DigComp 2.2 serves as a robust framework for advancing digital competencies in the workforce.
They will discuss how implementing the DCC required overcoming participant test anxiety and finding a balance between test granularity and user effort. They will also explain how calibration efforts ensured the tool was neither overly complex nor superficial, addressing practical usability.
The presentation will be followed as usual by a Q&A session with participants.
