Inspiring Experiences Webinar: The BIBLIO project use of DigComp for the design of new library job profiles

Date

Dear CoP members,
the next Inspiring Experiences webinar organized by the DigCompHub project is on the experience of the BIBLIO project with DigComp to design new library job profiles and a training offer to develop the related skills. The webinar will take place on April 17th, 2024 at 14.00-15.00 CEST, and you can sign up for it at this link.

The BIBLIO (Boosting digital skills and competences for librarians in Europe) project (2019-2023), funded by Erasmus+ KA2: Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices – Sector Skills Alliances, addressed the skills gap in the library sector due to the digital transformation that is changing the role of libraries and library professionals.

The project investigated library professionals’ digital up/skilling needs (and those of people wishing to work in the library sector) and identified/designed two new job role profiles to offer innovative services to library users: the Community engagement officer and the Digital Transformation facilitator. Based on this analysis, BIBLIO partners designed and tested a training offer made of a MOOC for the transversal up/skilling needs, and specialization courses for the new profiles, including blended learning and work-based learning experiences.

In the webinar, Elisabetta Mei (Project Manager and translator at EGInA Srl) and Nicola Barbuti (teacher and researcher at Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro) will illustrate how the DigComp framework was used in different steps of the project, in particular:

  • in the investigation of library professionals’ digital competence strengths and weaknesses and related digital skilling requirements
  • to design the two BIBLIO job role profiles, which also include EntreComp competences
  • and, to design the training offer and related assessment tools

As usual, the webinar participants can ask questions and interact with the speakers at the end of the presentation.
